I haven't been so engrossed in a fantasy book like this in a long time. The first book in the Crown of Shards series by Jennifer Estep is an exciting story of an underdog royal set on revenge against her cruel cousin, the queen. If you like The Cruel Prince by Holly Black or Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin , then you'll definitely like this book. There's political intrigue, magical powers and gladiator death matches.
